Ulcer Swish
What Is Ulcer Swish?
Ulcer swish is a compounded mouth rinse that contains three active ingredients, namely lidocaine, betamethasone, and tetracycline. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that causes the loss of feeling in the skin, surrounding tissues, or affected muscles by inhibiting the conduction of neural impulses. Tetracycline, on the other hand, is an antibiotic that aids in killing bacteria associated with ulcers. It also hinders the production of collagenase, helping prevent the trigger of ulcers. Lastly, the corticosteroid Betamethasone reduces inflammation and is often an active ingredient in the treatment of aphthous ulcers. The combination of these three ingredients is currently possible only through the prescription from a trusted compounding pharmacy such as 200 Pharmacy. It is advised that the patient should refrain from eating and drinking for about 30 minutes after the use of ulcer swish.
What Is Ulcer Swish For?
For patients suffering from aphthous ulcers or canker sores, using ulcer swish may be the best solution. The combination of lidocaine, tetracycline, and betamethasone is great for reducing pain and inflammation. It helps sores heal faster and prevents the development of new ones. A majority of individuals experience canker sores occasionally or at least once, while others develop into a chronic condition. Over-the-counter canker sore medicine are very limited and often provide only minimum relief and prevention. As of date there is no commercial medicine that carries the three active ingredients in one mouthwash other than our compounded ulcer swish.
